Challenge
Oddschecker was facing some negative user feedback and a drop of users during football matches due to a lack of informations and more granular betting opportunities that were instead offer by other bookmakers.
During mid 2019, Oddschecker managed to acquire a company that was specialised in capturing live data from football matches, this was allowing the company to have a huge amount of data with zero lag available for our customers.
Goal
The goal of this project was to filter the raw data and offer them in the app in a useful and accessible way. Design and implement a completely new football experience.
Solution
After a round of research to better understand the granular interests of football gamblers I started exploring competitors similar offering to understand the pro and cons of their choice. After some iterations and tests, I opted to use a split screen layout with an interactive football pitch on the upper part and the more researched market in the bottom part. The users was able to scroll and access to more markets expanding the lower part modifying the ratio of the screen, but maintaining a visible access to the football pitch (minimized).
Due to the match mechanics, before the match start was not possible to place a bet on players (as they have not been announced yet) so the app was also reflecting that by giving access to players stats only after the match was started.
This helped a lot Oddschecker in increasing adoption and maintaining a regular flow of users from the log in till the betting checkout.
